Every other weekend rotation.  Holiday rotation.  

Our 22-bed Hospice Inpatient Unit is located on the Mitchell Campus in Cheektowaga, NY.  It provides a relaxing and unique home-like atmosphere for patients and families receiving hospice care.  As a nurse you will be providing short-term care for hospice patients. Our excellent staff/patient ratio means our patients are given the best care possible.  The unit is available for patients whose pain or symptoms cannot be managed at home and for patients approaching the end of their illness. Hospice patients can also be admitted to the unit for short-term respite care to give the patient's caregivers a short break.

You will be coordinating total comprehensive, patient care and psychosocial/spiritual intervention for the patient and family in accordance with Hospice Buffalo, Inc. and HIU policies and procedures. You assume accountability for assigned patients and consulting supervisor and/or director as needed. You will aide in coordination of assignments for LPN's, nursing assistants and volunteers to address the patient/family needs. Care given is patient centered and goal directed to meet the specific needs of the patient/family while supporting the definition of Hospice. Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Certification

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current RN licensure in the State of New York.
  • Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing preferred.
  • Experience
  • A minimum of one (1) year of nursing practice as a professional nurse is required.
