(2) 12.5 hour shifts/week. Weekend and Holiday rotation.
The 22-bed Hospice Inpatient Unit on the Mitchell Campus in Cheektowaga, NY, provides a relaxing and unique home-like atmosphere for patients and families receiving hospice care. The extraordinary inpatient medical staff provides short-term care for hospice patients. Our excellent staff/patient ratio means our patients are given the best care possible by our skilled team of hospice and palliative care doctors. The unit is available for patients whose pain or symptoms cannot be managed at home and for patients approaching the end of their illness. Hospice patients can also be admitted to the unit for short-term respite care to give the patient's caregivers a short break
As a nurse you will perform comprehensive assessments to identify all physical, psychosocial, environmental, safety, emotional and spiritual needs related to the terminal illness that must be addressed in order to promote the patient's well-being, comfort, and dignity throughout the dying process and documents findings on all appropriate forms and on the plan of care.
Education / Certification
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current RN licensure in the State of New York.
Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing preferred.
A minimum of one (1) year of nursing practice as a professional nurse is preferred.
