This position is responsible for analysis, configuration, deployment, and support of all clinical applications at Hospice and Palliative Care Buffalo. Primary responsibilities include full understanding and analysis of the functionality of the Electronic Medical Record and the ability to apply that functionality to the clinical and business processes while providing excellent customer service to key stakeholders. This individual will have knowledge of relational databases and how data supports the care of patients and families and will provide support for business intelligence, system analysis, and data analytics. Additionally, this person will have knowledge of all clinical applications within the organization and will serve as the technical point of contact within the organization to ensure timely training, issue/trouble ticket remediation and process improvement. Technical and clinical understanding of these systems will be required to identify issues that impact the delivery of services within the organization. The ability to understand work flow within the organization and translate that into effective, efficient, and safe utilization of the clinical application is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the design, delivery, implementation and improvement of the Electronic Medical Record Software application, training programs, and related courseware.
  • Effectively manages all clinical systems and applications and strong understanding of the relationship between patient care and technology.
  • Able to identify performance improvement opportunities by addressing gaps between functionality and user needs and/or electronic health record best practices and performance.
  • Demonstrates ability to apply technology in a clinical environment and implement process changes to include motivating staff to accept change.
  • Effectively manages Health Information System software and hardware by testing new versions, maintaining appropriate security rights in the software, effectively using the software maintenance screens, etc.
  • Identifies, defines, and documents new functional requirements for clinical applications based on input from the field end users.
  • Accountable for the set-up, training, and support of information technology software applications throughout the HPCB network.
  • Act as a technical liaison with clinical staff related to the implementation of new features and functionality based on user requirements.
  • Perform data acquisition and reconciliation from various clinical and business systems and aggregate, validate and ensure data meets modeling and reporting requirements.
  • Support data extraction and analytical efforts used to mine HBCB systems and applications for knowledge and information that enhances clinical and business processes.
  • Use and support database applications and analytical tools; evaluate data quality, applications and functions.
  • Identify ways to automate data processing and data migration.
  • Supports clinical and business process improvement through use of health information system solutions.
  • Performs basic statistical analysis for projects and reports.
  • Assists in identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or pattern in complex data sets.
  • Assists in the review of company requests for new clinical and operational report ideas and helps to provide efficient solutions and answers.
  • Accepts other duties or projects assigned by management which relate to the implementation and application of clinical information technology.

Qualifications:

  • Education / Certification

Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience.

  • Experience

2 to 3 years of experience with business related software applications, a working knowledge of computer and network operations and an understanding of system and data flow preferred.
