Responsible for assisting the Executive Vice President of the Foundation in executing fund-raising activities and events targeting major and planned giving donors to support Hospice and Palliative Care Buffalo and its affiliates.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Executive Vice President, CEO, and the Foundation Board to set ambitious, achievable fundraising goals that serve the needs of the organization.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Foundation's annual budget and participate in periodic (monthly) review of Foundation's financial statements.
  • Work with Executive Vice President to develop short and long-term programs to meet fundraising goals, with an emphasis on implementing major and planned gifts strategies ($5000+ donors/Founders Society) including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Work in collaboration with the Executive Vice President to direct planned giving strategies including bequests, annuities, life insurance policies etc. Oversee the cultivation and stewardship of the Swift Legacy members.
  • Oversee the direct mail program and Annual Fund efforts including planning, budgeting, implementation and evaluation. Increased focus on leadership potential donors ($1,000+ donors Klosterman Society).
  • Build out major gift portfolio that includes individuals, corporations, and foundations.   Assist the Donor Relations team in securing corporate sponsorship for core fundraising events.
  • Recommend and potentially manage cost-effective activities to support fundraising (annual giving appeals, special events and promotions, major and planned giving programs), donor cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Assist the Executive Vice President and the foundation team with implementation of data analytics (Blackbaud Analytics) related to annual, major and planned giving platforms.
  • Oversee the Foundation's Tribute Memorial program as it relates to cultivation and upgrading of donors to leadership giving. Manage the funeral home relationships to support the program.
  • Oversee Memorial Brick Walkway Program, including promotion, sales and recognition.
  • Participate in all aspects of periodic campaigns including planning, implementation, prospect identification, cultivation and solicitation.
  • Work in collaboration with Executive Vice President and the Marketing & Communications team to manage the Foundation's collateral materials.
  • Provide supervision to the Development Associate (new) and evaluate personnel performance in accordance with established policy.
  • In collaboration with the Development Associate (new) create a cultivation program for Leadership Annual Giving with measurable objectives. Lead the Development Associate in identifying and recruiting volunteer leadership (e.g., Signature Society) to support these efforts.
  • In collaboration with the Manager of Donor Relations, oversee the donor database, gift processing, and acknowledgment process. Utilize Raiser's Edge to create and manage effective statistical reports that can be shared with leadership team and board members.
  • Assist Executive Vice President and Manager of Donor Relations to coordinate donor and Board activities including, but not limited to, donor receptions, Board cultivation events, Swift Legacy reception and other targeted cultivation events.
  • Provide writing support where necessary for prospect proposals, endowment reports, print publications, and internal communication as needed.

  • Experience


            At least five years of experience in development for a non-profit organization.
